The second Leonardo AB 412CP was officially included in the Uruguayan National Navy

The second Leonardo AB 412CP helicopter acquired during the previous administration was unveiled under the 96th Anniversary of Naval Aviation Act at the C / C Carlos Curbelo Base, Punta del Este, Maldonado, and officially joined the Uruguayan Navy Department. An event hosted by Secretary of Defense Javier Garca, Undersecretary of State Rivera Elgue, and Commander of the National Navy, Admiral Jorge Wilson. The first of these helicopters was presented in September. The investment for the purchase was six and a half million dollars.

They have search and rescue equipment, can support military and maritime interdiction operations and have a capacity for 13 people. These helicopters will be added to a previously installed Bell OH 58 Kiowa for training and coastal surveillance. During the event, Minister García highlighted the task that naval aviation has developed during the pandemic, mainly during the summer season, of monitoring the coast from the air, in order to detect crowds and also situations of one kind.
