The crew of a commercial flight had to change their routine and land unplanned after a passenger on board caused disruption as the plane flew over the Portugal region.

The event occurred on flight number FR4346 which was operated by a Ryanair Boeing 737-800 from Liverpool, England to Tenerife, Spain. The jet landed unscheduled in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, after a passenger caused excitement on board last Friday, 16th. The man was forced to disembark by the Portuguese police to the applause of the other passengers.

According to eyewitness reports from the British newspaper Daily Star, the confusion began in the background of the aircraft when violent shouts drew the attention of flight attendants. There is no concrete information on what caused the turbulence.

The airline declined to provide details of what happened, but confirmed that the Lisbon landing was caused by problems with a passenger and that the police needed to be called.

Passengers on the flight told the press that there were signs of fighting and lots of “blood splatters” over the plane. The MSN portal found that the source of the problem needed to be tied to an armchair in order to calm down. One of the flight attendants would have blood on his shirt when the mess ended.

When the plane landed in Lisbon, another passenger said the plane door opened and about five Portuguese police officers boarded and removed the man from the plane. The other travelers applauded and shouted words of support to the police as they got off the plane.

After the incident, the plane continued with its flight plan as usual.
