Aresa International is in the process of delivering the first of four coastal patrol boats or Inshore Patrol Craft (IPC) model Aresa 1700 to the Nigerian Navy. The company has almost completed the first two IPC Fighter II class boats for the Nigerian Navy or the Nigerian Navy (NN), as shown in the photo of the hulls of these units that will operate in the strategic and increasingly troubled Gulf of Guinea numbers P494 and P495.
The Aresa 1700 (Fighter II class) is made of aluminum and is 17 meters long and 4 meters wide. Each ship displacing 7.6 tons is powered by two engines from the German company MTU, which generate 1,250 hp and propel a conventional propeller system with which they can reach a top speed of 45 knots. In addition, these patrol boats can carry a semi-rigid type auxiliary boat or a rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB) located in the rear of the marine environment.
We are faced with some ships designed at the request of the specific requirements of the Nigerian Navy and completed at the Aresa Internacional Group plant in Arenys de Mar (Barcelona), although the case and superstructures were commissioned from Ucalsa Metallurgy. that they manufacture them in their factory in Vigo (Pontevedra).
Nigeria previously acquired patrol boats from this manufacturer. In 2013, state-owned Global West Vessels Specialist Limited bought four Aresa 1800 patrol boats which it later transferred to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
The Aresa International Group has been supplying African military and police customers with ships of this type for many years, including the Polica Marima de Senegal (15 Aresa 1200 coastal patrol vessels in the 1990s) and Cameroon (17 military vessels in the 2010s). , the Angolan Maritime Police, etc. (Julio Maz Sanz)
