The large freighter Antonov 124 appears again in Brazil

The large freighter Antonov AN-124 Ruslan traveled through Brazil again this weekend, spending almost 24 hours on national soil between Saturday (17) and Sunday (18).

The aircraft used in the mission was the modernized version AN-124-100M, registered under the registration number RA-82081, operated by the Russian airline Volga-Dnepr Airlines. According to Antonov, this version can carry up to 150 tons of cargo on 1040 cubic meters of hull, compared to 120 tons of the original version.

In addition to the incredible total capacity, the modernized version can transport 120 tons concentrated in one piece and thus transport loads that fit into other models of cargo aircraft, but are not supported by the heavy weight in the structure of the jets.

According to FlightRadar24, the Ruslan passed Viracopos International Airport in Campinas (SP), landed at 4:34 a.m. on Saturday and took off at 12:52 p.m. on Sunday.

The tracking website shows that the most recent RA-82081 flights include departure from San Bernardino (USA) on the 14th towards landing in Panama City, from where they depart on the 15th to Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia) and Started there stayed until departure on the evening of the 16th in the direction of Campinas.

The Antonov AN-124 Ruslan is the second largest freighter in the world in terms of volume capacity and concentrated cargo capacity, after its big brother the Antonov AN-225 Mriya.

Even so, the 124 is considered the largest in the world in terms of production aircraft, as only one unit was built on the AN-225.
