The icebreaker ARA ?? Almirante Irízar ?? ready for the Antarctic campaign after completion of the machine tests (with photo gallery)

During the ten days of navigation, the Argentine Navy ship has complied with the adaptations and training that will enable it to face the demanding Summer Antarctic campaign. With the arrival of the icebreaker ARA ?? Almirante Irízar ?? The engine tests were completed in the port of Buenos Aires. The aim was to calibrate the equipment of the device to confirm its proper functioning, to check parameters and to ensure optimal and efficient operation in the Antarctic.

In addition to the specific tasks planned by the machinery department, the tests also included various general exercises to adjust roles throughout the crew. Training in demolition techniques, fire fighting roles and light signals was developed. The activities were also carried out using Fennec and Sea King aircraft of the First and Second Naval Helicopter Squadrons of the Argentine Navy and a Bell 212 of the VII Air Brigade of the Argentine Air Force.
