According to a statement from Etihad, the service was operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft for Israel’s three-and-a-half-hour trip to the United Arab Emirates. The return journey starts on October 21 in Abu Dhabi.

According to FlightRadar24, the aircraft used was the A6-BMH, the 787-10, dubbed the “Greenliner” as a result of tests of the partnership between Etihad and Boeing to develop greener technologies in commercial aviation.

As a commercial travel mission, the flight took a group of leading tourism companies, key decision makers, travel agents and freight forwarders and the media by invitation to experience Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates with representatives from Etihad Airways and Abu Dhabi Tourism Industry.

This is the latest development in a growing collaboration between the two nations following the establishment of diplomatic relations and the signing of the Abrahamic Accords between the United Arab Emirates and Israel on September 15 in Washington DC, USA.

Etihad’s operation follows the first symbolic commercial flight of the Israeli airline El Al between Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi on August 31 with an aircraft adorned with the Star of David carrying a high-ranking American and Israeli delegation.

Mohamed Mubarak Fadhel Al Mazrouei, President of Etihad Aviation Group, said today’s flight is a historic opportunity for developing strong partnerships in the United Arab Emirates and Israel.

“We are only just beginning to explore the long-term potential of these newly formed relationships, which will certainly benefit the economies of both nations, particularly in the areas of trade and tourism, and ultimately the people who call this diverse region home. and wonderful, ”explains Al Mazrouei.

At the same time as the first commercial flight and to celebrate the recent peace accords between the United Arab Emirates and Israel, Etihad became the first non-Israeli airline in the Middle East to launch a website for the Israeli market in Hebrew.

The Israeli version of the airline’s official website is also available in English and contains digital content, including extensive information about Etihad’s activities, products, services and network. The website also includes a travel guide for Abu Dhabi.

Etihad had already sent an unknown cargo plane to Tel Aviv that was flying with the help of the Palestinians in the fight against Covid-19.
