At the beginning of October, LATAM Cargo Brasil transported 508 kilos of PPE (personal protective equipment) to the NGO Associação Médicos da Floresta as part of the Avião Solidário program.

The association offers isolated indigenous communities ophthalmic and dental care as part of the “Amazonian Cataract” and “Amazonian Smile” projects. The cargo left São Paulo / Congonhas in the direction of Boa Vista (Roraima), near the place where the indigenous people live and are treated by the organization’s volunteer doctors.

The initiative to transport PPE for free to help indigenous health professionals who are leaders in indigenous communities in the region reaffirms LATAM’s commitment to support social and environmental issues and to actively collaborate with the activities of its partner NGOs.

LATAM solidarity plane

The LATAM Group’s Solidarity Airplane program has a 9 year history and benefits all of Latin America through connectivity and the ability to transport passengers and freight companies.

Not only does it enable the transportation of healthcare equipment, hospital supplies, food and organs, but it also helps patients with no resources for medical treatment.

More recently, the program also focused on helping with environmental disasters in the Pantanal when a plane took off from Fortaleza (CE) with 20 kilos of tilapia skin, a biological association to help treat animals affected by burns in the Pantanal Mato Grosso . Grossense.

30 airline tickets were also donated to Cuiabá for volunteers and veterinarians of the NGO AMPARA Animal.
