Azul was aware of the difficulties that the pandemic brought in the country and carried out the solidarity transport of two tons of food that Nestlè had donated to Mesa Brasil Sesc, a social program that works directly against hunger, food waste and various products.
The donation went from Congonhas in São Paulo to Belo Horizonte Airport this Wednesday 14th. From there, the cargo continued to be distributed to vulnerable families, benefiting more than 20,000 people.
“It is very important that we are united at this moment in order to be able to help those in need. We are grateful to Mesa Brasil Sesc for our air transportation service as this donation will benefit thousands of people in a city where Azul has a strong presence, connects stories and brings customers to realize their dreams, ”said Camila Almeida, People Director at Azul.
“The Mesa Brasil Sesc program has acted in the fight against hunger and waste since 1994 through partnerships like this one run with Azul, changing the lives of children, adolescents, adults and the elderly across Brazil. The aim is to ensure that food reaches the homes of the people most affected by the pandemic, ”commented Sidnei Calisto de Oliveira, manager of the Mesa Brasil program.
Since the pandemic began, Azul has distributed more than 500,000 packets of snacks, 204 baby foods, 880 cans of soft drinks and 257 pieces of bed linen to hospitals and facilities across Brazil. Last week the company donated 160 electronic products to the NGO Cearense Tapera das Artes. A total of 100 Kindle, 50 tablets and 10 used notebooks were delivered in good condition to the institution that deals with the social development of children in the Alquiraz region of Ceará.
