Aircraft Support Industries (ASI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with North American Aerospace Industries (NAAI) for the installation of three huge new aircraft recycling facilities.

The project includes a planned installation at the Global TransPark in Kinston, North Carolina, USA, as well as two other facilities at Al Ain International Airport in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and at Clark International Airport in the Philippines.

ASI will take a step-by-step project development approach. The first phase will focus on a 30,000 square meter hangar for custom dismantling that can accommodate three of the largest commercial aircraft such as the A380.

The company will use its tension arch construction system to build hangars with a span of 100 meters and an extension of 7,500 square meters. The annex includes technical support and material storage workshops for NAAI facilities.

ASI has developed tailor-made software for the completion of construction projects with a bow. The innovative post-tensioning system is adapted to steel structures and extremely economical for structures with a span of 60 to 300 meters.

Subsequent phases include an MRO hangar (maintenance, repair and overhaul) with two fields and a large-scale painting hangar.

“We look forward to this project, which is characterized by exclusivity and a sustainable concept. Our experience with the aerospace infrastructure project together with the use of the tension arch construction system will enable us to provide NAAI with the solution for an installation of this magnitude, ”commented Mark Langbein, Executive Director of ASI.

Sven Daniel Koechler, President and CEO of NAAI, explains: “This is an exciting development for us. ASI is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of custom aircraft maintenance systems, systems and devices. Our proven track record in providing flexible and economical facilities is in line with our goals for this operation. “
