Argentine Defense Minister Agustn Rossi chaired the opening ceremony of the VII Intergovernmental Commission on Technical – Military Cooperation of the Argentine Republic – Russian Federation, which will take place for three days in the San Martin room of the Libertador building. This initiative was launched in October 2006 and includes, among other things, the elaboration of proposals that are of interest to the respective states and focus on the problems of bilateral military-technical cooperation.
The last meeting took place in 2017 in St. Petersburg. The head of the portfolio stressed the importance of establishing the National Defense Fund (FONDEF) in order to advance the achievement of these goals. Rossi, accompanied by the Minister for International Affairs for Defense, Francisco Cafiero, said: On behalf of the Argentine people and the national government, we are deeply grateful for the dispatch of the Sputnik V vaccines.
The head of the Russian delegation, Deputy Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (SFCTM), Anatoly Punchuk, accompanied by the Ambassador of this country to Argentina, Dmitri Feoktistov, expressed his position to continue to support us in the existing diplomatic mission At the same time, he pointed out that a big step in this cooperation would be the signing of the agreement to deliver the vaccines against the coronavirus to the Argentine people.
During three days, the delegations of Argentina and Russia, made up of the main officials and representatives of the various areas of government, will analyze, through exhibitions and technical work tables, the various aspects of cooperation on defense issues, and in particular on aviation materials and equipment, and terrestrial. With this in mind, the possibilities for joint projects are analyzed and a committee protocol is signed on the last day.
The activity also involves representatives from companies from both countries related to the defense industry. The directors of the Argentine Aircraft Factory (FAdeA), Fabricaciones Militares (FM), the TANDANOR shipyard; and the Institute for Scientific and Technical Defense Research (CITEDEF). In addition, delegates will visit the Argentine Naval and Industrial Complex (CINAR), TANDANOR, and the Directorate of Removal and Veterinary Medicine of the Argentine Army.
The Secretary for Research, Industrial Policy and Production for Defense, Daniela Castro, attended the opening day. Undersecretary of State for Operational Planning and Defense Logistics, Lucia Kersul; the Under-Secretary of State for International Affairs, Roberto De Luise; for Scientific Research and Industrial Policy, Mariano De Miguel; the owner of the military manufacture, Ivn Durign; by Tandanor, Miguel ngel Tudino; by CITEDEF, Pablo Bolcatto and the Vice President of the FAdeA, Franco Giuggoloni. Authorities of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces, the Argentine Army, the Argentine Navy and the Argentine Air Force also attended; together with a large Russian delegation made up of representatives from the defense portfolio and representatives from various Russian companies.
